Overview

Explore Mt. Kanjirowa (6,612 meters), one of the tallest mountains in the Dolpo region, in this expedition. Trekking enthusiasts will find the Kanjirowa Expedition a true serendipity.

Mt. Kanjirowa is the second-highest mountain in the Dolpa region. Also known as Gangchhen Ralwa Himal, it creates a stunning wall between the Nepal-Tibet border. This expedition encompasses the cultural aspects of the Buddhist community and the picturesque views of the floras, faunas, hills, and mountains.

One of the highlights of this journey is visiting Shey Phoksundo National Park, one of the largest national parks of Nepal. The national park covers different altitude ranges, weather conditions, and geographical features. This enables the national park to offer a wide range of floras and faunas with a few endangered species like Snow Leopard, Grey Wolf, and Musk Deer.

In addition, on the journey, we explore  Shey Phoksundo Lake, one of Nepal’s deepest and most sacred lakes. The panoramic view of the snow-capped mountains with the lake in the front will take our breath away. Moreover, the journey to these places in the expedition is promisingly adventurous and fulfilling.

This expedition covers everything a trekker wishes for on their journey. From sightseeing in the Kathmandu valley to taking a flight to Nepaljung and then to Juphal and finally starting our actual trek towards Mt. Kanjirowa. Walking along the hillside, river stream, and small villages of different communities, we explore more than just the natural aspects.

Moreover, the views of the floras, faunas, mountain ranges, and lakes on the journey will steal our hearts. The entire experience in this journey will be something that we will remember in the future.

Finally, it’s the day when we begin ascending even further than the Kanjirowa Base Camp. Yes, on the sixteenth day, our journey begins on rough, self-made, and ice-covered trails. Before the climbers advance to the Kanjirowa Peak, the Sherpa crew will set up different camps for the climbers to rest. From the base camp I and then further to multiple camps before finally reaching the summit, our expedition continues. You need to follow the Sherpa guides who lead you and prepare the perfect route for you to walk on as easily as possible. Every day, these guides will check your equipment and your health to make sure that you can ascend further.
Once you reach the highest part of the Kanjirowa expedition route and finally reach the summit, you get the most mesmerizing views of the surrounding valleys. Remember that the maximum altitude of this expedition is 6883 meters. Therefore, the climbers can even see the Dolpo valley from the peak. Enjoy as much as possible, spend some time in the peak, watch other snow-covered peaks looking at you, and capture as many memories as possible. Day 19-29 :

Trek back to Juphal and Nepalgunj via the same Track

From Day 31 to Day 40, the climbers descend from the Kanjirowa Base Camp to Juphal. The same route taken to ascend is used to get back to Juphal which passes through multiple rivers, villages, vegetation, and other beautiful experiences. As this is a descending journey, the climbers will not have to use as much strength as while ascending. However, we do not mean that the journey will be very easy. Take proper rest, have proper food all the time, and make sure to keep a slow and steady pace even while descending. On the 40th day, we reach Juphal and spend the night in a hotel or guesthouse there.

Day 30 :

Good to Know

Food and Accommodation

The Kanjirowa Expedition team plans the accommodation and food arrangements to ensure comfort and quality. Accommodation will be provided in hotels, lodges, or tented camps based on the location.

In cities, comfortable hotels are arranged while lodges will be used in remote areas. We’ll set up tented camps in some locations during the trekking phase. All meals including breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided ensuring that the food is hygienic.

Best Season For Kanjirowa Expedition

The ideal time for the Kanjirowa Expedition is during Spring and Autumn. During the Spring the weather is stable with clear skies and moderate temperatures. This is an excellent time for trekking and climbing. Moreover, the blossom of different types of flowers on our entire journey with greenery hills and forests will make the journey closer to nature.

The post-monsoon season (Autumn) ensures the trails are less muddy. Views of the Himalayas and Landscapes are spectacular in these seasons. In addition, the flowers and the leaves start to change their colors and start to fall off the ground. This creates a stunning view of the hills and mountains far behind during our expedition.

Transportation

Transportation involves a mix of air travel and private vehicles. During the trek, transportation is mainly on foot. The trails are so remote, that no local transportation is available.

A private vehicle will drive you to the hotel after you arrive in Kathmandu. You’ll fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj through a domestic carrier followed by a second flight to Juphal. From Jhupal, you’ll continue trekking on foot throughout the expedition. Upon completing the trek, you’ll return with flights from Jhupal to Nepalgunj and then to Kathmandu. A vehicle will transfer you from the airport to the hotel.

Permits Required For Kanjirowa Expedition

All trekkers in Nepal must obtain a Trekking Information Management System(TIMS) Card to ensure they register their trek with the authorities.

Moreover, you must obtain a Peak Permit to climb Mt. Kanjirowa. Similarly, a National Park Permit is necessary since the trek passes through Shey Phoksundo National Park. This can be acquired for the Park entrance.
